LexiCapture is a free screen recorder and video editor for Windows made by Lexiata.lk (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what LexiCapture does with your information. In short: your recordings and projects stay on your computer. An account is optional, and LexiCapture has no ads. It sends only an anonymous daily usage count, which you can turn off.
%APPDATA%\lexicapture).LexiCapture works offline. It connects to the internet only in these cases:
github.com) for a new version, and downloads it when there is one. Like any web request, this tells GitHub your IP address and that a LexiCapture copy is asking; nothing else about you or your files is sent. GitHub’s own privacy statement applies. (The Microsoft Store version is updated by the Store instead.)huggingface.co). After that, they run entirely on your PC. (Blur faces and Motion tracking need no download: they are part of the app, and your video never leaves your PC.)lexiatastudio.com for the list of extra sounds or transitions (at most about once an hour). Transitions come inside that list (each one is a small shape formula, not a file). A sound is downloaded only when you listen to it or add it — from lexiatastudio.com, or from our release page on GitHub (github.com). These requests send your IP address and the LexiCapture version, and for Pro sounds your sign-in; never your recordings, projects or files. Downloaded sounds stay on your PC and work offline.LexiCapture contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking code. Apart from the anonymous usage count below, it does not send usage statistics.
So that we know how many people use LexiCapture, and how many stop using it, LexiCapture sends one short message a day to our server at lexiatastudio.com while you use it, and one when you uninstall it. The message contains only:
It never contains your recordings, projects or file names, your name or e-mail address, or what you do in the app. We do not store your IP address with it; to stop abuse, our server counts messages per IP address for one hour, and only in a one-way scrambled (hashed) form. Like any website, our web host may also keep standard access logs, which include IP addresses, for a short time. Install numbers that have not been seen for 2 years are deleted; after that only daily totals remain (for example “120 people used LexiCapture on 1 May”).
LexiCapture tells you about this the first time it opens and sends nothing until you have answered that message (if you leave it unanswered, counting starts the next time you open LexiCapture). To turn it off, untick Help → Send anonymous usage count in the editor, or turn off Send anonymous usage count in the recorder’s Settings. While it is off, nothing is sent — also not when you uninstall.
When you uninstall LexiCapture, your browser opens a short page that asks why. Answering is optional and anonymous (no personal details are asked), and answers are deleted after 2 years.
Recording and editing never need an account (without one, your videos show a small “Made with LexiCapture” mark; a free account removes it). If you choose Sign in (or enter a license key), LexiCapture opens lexiatastudio.com in your browser, where you sign in or create a free account. Our site then keeps:
While you are signed in, LexiCapture checks in with lexiatastudio.com every few days to keep your plan up to date. On your computer, LexiCapture keeps a signed sign-in token, encrypted with Windows’ own data protection. Your password never goes into the app.
We use this only to run your account and licenses: to show your plan in the app, to limit how many computers a license is used on, and to let you remove computers on your account page. We do not sell or share it. You can remove computers at any time on your account page, and ask us to delete your account by e-mail.
Our Lexiata Studio Privacy Policy explains how we handle your account, licences, purchases and payments on lexiatastudio.com.
A problem report is sent only when you press Send report. Before sending, the report window lists what it contains:
A report never includes your videos, audio or API keys, and LexiCapture removes your Windows user name from it. To stop spam, our server counts reports per IP address for one hour; it keeps the address only in a one-way scrambled (hashed) form. Like any website, our web host may also keep standard access logs.
Reports are sent over HTTPS to our server at lexiatastudio.com and e-mailed to our support team. We use them only to find and fix problems in LexiCapture, and to reply to you if you gave us a contact. We do not sell or share them. Reports are deleted automatically after 12 months. To have a report deleted sooner, e-mail us with its report ID (for example LC-20261006-1A2B3C).
If the report cannot be sent, LexiCapture saves it as a file on your PC instead; it is only sent if you e-mail it to us yourself.
LexiCapture is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
%APPDATA%\lexicapture) at any time; uninstalling LexiCapture does not delete your recordings. If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Important changes will also be mentioned in the LexiCapture release notes.
